The decision was taken during the faction’s national convention held in Abuja, further deepening the leadership crisis within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was taken during the faction’s national convention held in Abuja, further deepening the leadership crisis within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development came despite the Supreme Court judgement which recently upheld the leadership of the David Mark camp.
However, another legal battle over the party’s leadership is still pending before the Federal High Court involving the Mark camp and the Nafiu Bala Gombe-led group.
At the convention, the Kachikwu faction, regarded as the party’s third bloc, adopted a new set of National Working Committee (NWC) members.
Abdulkadir Mohammed Bashir emerged as national chairman, while Kennedy Odiom was named national secretary.
The convention also ratified Chris Ugwu as national publicity secretary and Kingsley Ogah as chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), alongside other party officials.
The faction equally adopted and ratified the party’s 2018 constitution as amended, insisting that the move was aimed at repositioning the ADC ahead of future political contests.
In his acceptance speech, Bashir promised not to disappoint in his leadership, attributing the crisis in the party to selfish interests.
He said ADC is the only party that can give the All Progressives Congress (APC) a big fight. He appealed to members of the party to pray and cooperate to enable the new leadership succeed.
He also pledged to carry everybody along in the scheme of things, adding that the party’s doors were open for all Nigerians.
