The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two members of the Agbekoya group in connection with the killing of a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly known as an Okada rider, during a clash in Ibadan on Saturday evening.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, in the state, disclosed this while responding to inquiries from journalists over the incident which occurred around the Olorunda area of Ibadan, the state capital.

He stated that the incident involved a confrontation between the Okada rider and members of the Agbekoya group.
According to the police, the victim, identified simply as Awo, lost his life in the course of the altercation, which escalated into violence under circumstances that are still being investigated.
The Command confirmed that two suspects linked to the Agbekoya group had been apprehended in connection with the incident, while efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest another suspect who is currently at large.
“The situation has been brought under control, and normalcy has been restored in the area,” the police spokesperson said.
He assured residents that security operatives are on the ground to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.
The Command further stated that a full investigation had commenced to unravel the exact cause of the clash and ensure that all those involved were brought to justice.
Residents have also been urged to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement authorities by providing credible information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
