The Commander of NNS-Delta, Commodore Shehu Tasiu, disclosed this in Warri, Delta State on Monday while speaking during the inauguration of a number of projects in the NNS-Delta base including car parks, lawn tennis and volley ball courts, as well as accommodation projects notably the Executive Officer’s institutional house and self-contained senior rates accommodation, aimed at directly improving the living conditions of the officers and ratings serving in the NNS Delta.
Tasiu expressed gratitude to TSSNL for sponsoring the personnel accommodation projects in the Naval Base.
The Commander said, “These projects happened because of deliberate support, clear vision, and a shared belief that those who defend our waters deserve good facilities, including decent homes.
“Tantita has demonstrated what true partnership looks like. You understood the link between decent accommodation and operational effectiveness, and you acted.
“By providing quality accommodation for our personnel, you have invested directly in the comfort, dignity, and readiness of those who patrol the creeks, secure oil infrastructure, and keep our maritime domain safe day and night. This is more than Corporate Social Responsibility. This is nation-building in action.
“When our sailors live in decent quarters, they are healthier, more focused, and more committed. A rested sailor makes fewer mistakes. What you have done strengthens the operational backbone of NNS DELTA and, by extension, the Nigerian Navy’s contribution to national security and economic stability in the Niger Delta.”
Tasiu maintained that security in the maritime domain cannot be delivered by the Navy alone, noting that the Niger Delta is complex, such that it requires coordination, trust, and burden-sharing among the military, other security agencies, government institutions, and responsible private sector actors.”
“Tantita Security Service Limited has shown how a private partner can align its business objectives with national security priorities in a way that is lawful, professional, and impactful.
“To other corporate organisations, industry players, and well-meaning Nigerians, we acknowledge that many of you have in the past contributed in one way or another towards infrastructural development in the Base here and other naval bases across the country. Notwithstanding, today I am calling you to a greater action.
“The welfare of our personnel is a shared responsibility. If you have the means, emulate or go an extra mile of what Tantita has achieved today. Invest in projects that improve the lives of those who secure your investments, your communities, and your country. Whether it is accommodation, healthcare, training facilities, or recreational infrastructure, every contribution matters. When you support the Navy, you support the stability that enables business, trade, and development to thrive.
“I want to reaffirm our commitment to work closely with all relevant agencies, both security and civil, as well as communities, because effective security is anchored on a partnership built on trust, shared intelligence, and mutual respect for each other’s roles.
The Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral SD Ibrahim, described the event as “not merely the inauguration of structures, but the tangible manifestation of operational readiness, strategic partnership, and administrative excellence”.
He said, “By providing decent transit accommodation for our senior rates and a befitting institutional house for our Executive Officer, Tantita has directly boosted the morale of our workforce. I urge other corporate bodies to emulate this commendable gesture of supporting national security infrastructure”.
