FG unveils new platform to boost tax compliance

The Federal Government on Wednesday launched Rev360, a digital tax administration platform designed to improve tax compliance, simplify taxpayer interactions and strengthen revenue collection as part of ongoing reforms to modernise Nigeria’s tax system.

The platform was unveiled at the headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in Abuja during an event attended by senior government officials, development partners, professional bodies, business associations, tax consultants and taxpayers.

Representing the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, the Permanent Secretary (Special Duties) in the ministry, Mohammed Danjuma, described the platform as a major step in the modernisation of the country’s revenue administration architecture.

He said efficient tax administration was critical to economic growth because it encourages voluntary compliance, improves transparency and boosts investor confidence.

Oyedele said, “When tax administration becomes more efficient, compliance becomes easier. When compliance becomes easier, businesses can focus more on growth and productivity.

“As Nigeria continues its journey towards greater economic competitiveness and sustainable growth, initiatives such as Rev360 will play an important role in strengthening governance, supporting voluntary compliance, improving transparency, and creating a more enabling environment for business to thrive.”

According to him, the federal government’s economic reforms agenda is anchored on strong institutions, improved fiscal management, digital transformation and greater efficiency in public sector operations.

Also speaking, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, said the platform would support the government’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business and achieve its ambition of building a $1tn economy.

Oduwole recalled earlier attempts to automate tax administration processes and noted that the revenue agency had made significant progress in responding to stakeholder concerns and improving service delivery.

“The Tinubu administration is committed to seeing this economy well above $1tn, and these are the building blocks,” Oduwole said.

She commended the leadership of the NRS for driving reforms and embracing technology to improve engagement with taxpayers and businesses.

The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, described the platform as a symbol of the agency’s transformation from a traditional revenue collection institution into a technology-driven organisation.

Adedeji said, “Nigerian Revenue Service is no more an accounting agency. It’s now a technology agency.

“This is the future. And it’s not for us to dream the future. We just have to build that future. And I think that is what NRS is doing today.”

In her welcome address, the Executive Director of the Medium and Emerging Taxpayers Group, Bolaji Akintola, said the platform was developed to improve the overall taxpayer experience by making registration, filing, payment and support services easier and more efficient.

She noted that businesses increasingly expect public services to operate with the same speed, convenience and transparency available in the private sector.

“What excites us most about Rev360 is not merely its technological capability, but its practical impact on taxpayers,” she said.

According to Akintola, the platform provides greater visibility across taxpayer obligations, simplifies key processes, strengthens support mechanisms and lays the foundation for a more collaborative relationship between taxpayers and the revenue authority.

The Chief of Staff to the NRS Chairman, Mr Tayo Koleosho, said Rev360 was designed as a one-stop integrated platform covering taxpayer registration, assessment, payment, audit, customer service and compliance management.

According to him, the system would make tax administration less burdensome for businesses while helping the government improve revenue collection and voluntary compliance.

“It is about collecting more revenue for the country, but helping businesses so there is not a disruptive process,” he said.

Koleosho added that the platform would provide stronger data insights for businesses and policymakers, enabling more informed decision-making and economic planning.

The Executive Director of Technology at NRS, Mr Iniabasi Akpan, said the platform was developed in response to changing taxpayer expectations and the future needs of revenue administration.

He explained that Rev360 integrates registration, filing, payments, reporting, compliance management, support services and operational intelligence into a single ecosystem.

“Rev360 was not developed because new technologies are available. It was built because there’s a future,” Akpan said.

He added that the platform marked the agency’s transition from digital administration to intelligent administration through real-time visibility, enhanced workflow management, stronger compliance capabilities, improved taxpayer support and data-driven decision-making.

The launch also featured demonstrations of taxpayer registration, filing, payment and reporting processes, as well as a panel discussion on operational readiness, stakeholder engagement, taxpayer support and lessons from the implementation process.

The NRS said the platform would support its vision of building a modern, efficient, transparent and data-driven revenue administration system capable of meeting the evolving needs of taxpayers and the Nigerian economy.

The PUNCH earlier reported that the Nigeria Revenue Service warned that persistent tax leakages, delayed remittances and weak compliance by some government institutions and sub-national entities could threaten its target of generating about N40tn in revenue for the federation in 2026.
