The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged Nigerian leaders to govern with conscience and show more concern for citizens facing hardship.
In an Eid-el-Kabir message, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, said many Nigerians were struggling with rising living costs, insecurity and economic pressure.
He said the spirit of sacrifice should not rest only on ordinary citizens, adding that leaders must also show sacrifice through honesty, service and compassion.
According to him, Nigerians now measure hardship through skipped meals, unpaid school fees and struggling businesses.
Okoh said leaders across government, politics, business and religious institutions must focus on easing the hardship facing millions of Nigerians.
He added that Nigerians want leaders who listen and act, not promises.
CAN also urged Nigerians not to allow hardship to fuel ethnic or religious divisions.
The group said insecurity, poverty and hunger affect everyone, regardless of religion or tribe.
It also called on religious leaders to continue promoting peace and unity across the country.
Okoh further appealed to wealthy Nigerians and organisations to support widows, orphans, displaced persons and struggling families during the Sallah period.
He prayed for peace, healing and renewed hope across the country.
