273 customers share N17.96m in Wema Bank promo

Wema Bank Plc has rewarded 273 customers with a total of N17.96m, a month after launching Season 5 of its flagship 5 for 5 Rewards campaign.

The bank said the initial payout demonstrated a strong early impact for its refreshed customer rewards platform, reinforcing its corporate commitment to rewarding everyday banking.

Launched on 2 May 2026, as part of the financial institution’s 81st anniversary celebration, this season of the campaign introduced a more structured and inclusive rewards framework, which according to the bank, was designed to encourage positive financial habits while recognising customer loyalty across the youth, women, and mass-market segments.

The season opened with a special anniversary activation at the Ikeja City Mall in Lagos, where 81 customers received N81,000 each, resulting in N6.56m in cash rewards distributed on launch day alone.

Since that initial activation, the campaign has continued to reward customers nationwide through a consistent schedule of daily and monthly draws, which produced an additional 192 winners within the first month of operation.

A breakdown of the first-month winners highlighted a widespread financial impact across diverse demographics.

In the youth segment, 37 students received rewards worth a combined N4.4m. This included 20 students who received N50,000 PocketMoni rewards and 17 university students who were awarded N200,000 each in tuition support.

The women’s segment also recorded strong early participation, with 12 female customers receiving N150,000 each through the campaign’s specialised #SelfCare category.

Meanwhile, the mass-market segment, which includes local traders, recorded the highest volume of engagement. This resulted in 120 customers receiving daily cash rewards and 23 customers winning N200,000 each in the first monthly draw, bringing the total rewards in that category alone to N5.2m.

Commenting on the campaign’s early milestones, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni, emphasised that the initiative was built on meaning, transparency, and broad accessibility.

He noted, “The initial response to Season 5 had been highly encouraging, stating that seeing hundreds of customers benefit within just one month reinforced the bank’s belief that everyday banking should create everyday opportunities.”

Oseni added that beyond simply rewarding transactions, the bank was actively encouraging positive financial habits while delivering real value to its retail base. He maintained that the first month was only the beginning of a larger rollout, promising more reward categories and more winners in the months ahead.

With over N170m earmarked for rewards between May and December 2026, thousands more customers are expected to benefit as the pan-Nigerian campaign continues.
