The party dismissed claims in some quarters that it may not field candidates in the elections, branding such suggestions as unfounded and aimed at creating unnecessary confusion.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party remains focused on its objective of offering Nigerians an alternative platform to what it termed the misgovernance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, there is no legal or structural impediment to the party’s participation in the 2027 polls.
“We have taken note of recent suggestions that the ADC will not produce candidates in the 2027 elections. We find such claims entirely unfounded, mischievous, and designed to create confusion where none exists,” Abdullahi said.
He stressed that the party would not only present candidates but would field individuals who are “credible, competent, and nationally acceptable,” capable of addressing Nigeria’s current challenges.
Abdullahi further stated that the ADC is fully compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act, adding that any contrary narrative is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and undermine the party’s growing momentum.
Reiterating the party’s position as a leading opposition platform, he said the ADC is intensifying efforts to mobilise Nigerians and strengthen its structures nationwide ahead of the elections.
“We remain focused on the real work; organising across the country, mobilising Nigerians who are tired of insecurity, rising cost of living, and limited opportunities, and building the structures required not just to contest, but to win,” he added.
The party urged its members, supporters, and the general public to disregard what it described as baseless assertions, insisting that it remains resolute in its mission to provide leadership capable of steering the country out of its current challenges.
