- +2027: Clerics caution politicians against impunity, violence
The Emeritus Vice Chairman of TAC LAWMNA, Pastor Gabriel Uyeh, stated this at the headquarters of the church in Lagos while presenting the new principal officers of the church to the media on Tuesday.
The Emeritus Vice Chairman of TAC LAWMNA, Pastor Gabriel Uyeh, stated this at the headquarters of the church in Lagos while presenting the new principal officers of the church to the media on Tuesday.
“Our political leaders must understand that power is transient and should be used for the benefit of the people if it is to have true meaning.
“Impunity and political wickedness must cease. Equity, fairness, and justice must prevail in all governmental affairs.
“As the nation prepares for another election season, I appeal to politicians to tread carefully and place the interest of the country above personal ambition and political scheming.
“They must realise that there will be no nation left to govern if the country is set ablaze because of elections,” he noted.
According to the cleric, Nigeria was already grappling with insecurity, kidnapping, banditry, and pockets of religious extremism.
“Politicians must, therefore, avoid actions or utterances capable of further heating the polity.
“The election umpire must also live up to its responsibility by being truly independent, fair, and seen to be fair to all parties while conducting smooth, credible, free, and fair elections,” he added.
Uyeh asserted that Nigeria had a great destiny, noting, however, that present realities made the journey toward that destiny difficult, fragile, and uncertain.
“There must be transformation, people-oriented governance, and collective commitment from all stakeholders to make the nation great again,” he emphasised.
Uyeh called on members of TAC Nigeria and the media to support the new leadership of LAWMNA led by Pastor Moses Ogunibe, who was formerly the Territorial Administrative Secretary of the church.
Speaking at the session, Ogunibe encouraged Nigerians to allow peace in the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He pledged the church’s commitment to support any government that comes on board.
“Any government that comes on board, we are ready to support. And the insurgency that we are experiencing in Nigeria, very soon, it will disappear in Jesus’ name,” he highlighted.
Other new principal officers of the church are Pastor Bonzy Geoffrey, the LAWMA Territorial Vice Chairman; Pastor Olusegun Abe, Territorial Administrative Secretary; Pastor Gabriel Alakuko, Territorial Deputy Administrative Secretary;
Pastor S. A. Akolo, the incumbent LAWMA Finance Secretary, continues in office and Pastor J. O. Olayemi, a Council Prophet, Lead Prophet and National Prophet.
The principal officers were inaugurated on May 10, 2026.
