Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly abducted several students after attacking schools in Borno during classes on Friday.

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly abducted an unspecified number of pupils from a primary and secondary school in Mussa village, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, in the latest attack on communities in the North-East.

According to reports by local publication, Yerwa Express, the insurgents invaded the community during school hours on Friday, causing panic among residents and school authorities.

The publication quoted a teacher at the school as confirming the attack, although the exact number of abducted pupils could not be immediately ascertained.

Another source told the publication that details surrounding the incident remained unclear as of press time, including the total number of students taken away by the attackers.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, confirmed that an attack occurred in the area but declined to state whether pupils were among those abducted.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the police nor the military had issued an official statement on the incident.

The spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, had also not responded to enquiries regarding the reported abduction.

The latest incident adds to growing security concerns in parts of Borno State, where communities continue to face attacks despite ongoing military operations against insurgent groups in the region.
