A five-member panel of the apex court announced the decision on Wednesday, stating that judgment would be delivered on a date to be communicated to all parties.
Justice Garba Mohammed, who led the panel, made the announcement after counsel to all parties adopted their briefs for and against the appeal.
The appeal was filed by the Turaki faction of the PDP, which is challenging the Court of Appeal’s ruling that voided the convention on the grounds that it was conducted in defiance of a valid court order.
The legal dispute traces back to a ruling by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, who had restrained the then Ambassador Iliya Damagum-led National Executive Committee from holding the convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan.
Justice Lifu also ordered that aspirant Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State, be allowed to purchase nomination forms and participate in the election of national officers.
Despite the order, the PDP proceeded with the convention, arguing that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction over its internal affairs.
However, the Court of Appeal disagreed in its ruling last month, holding that the matter was not purely internal to the party and subsequently nullified the convention and its outcomes.
Dissatisfied with the appellate court’s decision, the PDP approached the Supreme Court, urging it to set aside the judgment, affirm that the lower court lacked jurisdiction, and allow the appeal.
Respondents, however, urged the apex court to dismiss the appeal for lack of merit.
The Supreme Court is expected to communicate a date for the final judgment.
