Adelabu was seen navigating vehicles while exchanging greetings with onlookers and supporters.
The gesture reportedly occurred shortly after he arrived at the Ladoke Akintola International Airport, where supporters stormed in anticipation of his arrival.
Addressing reporters during a media session upon his arrival, Adelabu reflected on his tenure in the power sector.
“I have seen, and I have conquered,” Adelabu said, “and I believe I have tried my best and contributed my best to the national development and oversee one of the key sectors in Nigeria.”
Adelabu’s homecoming follows a formal resignation on Tuesday.
PUNCH reports that in a letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, he stated that he is stepping down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
While he noted that the decision would formally take effect on April 30, 2026, to ensure a “smooth transition” within the Ministry of Power, his immediate return to the state capital suggests that his campaign machinery is already in motion.
