The Osun State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on residents to take proactive steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases across the State.

Stephen Adebiyi, State Director of the Agency, made the call in a sensitisation message issued In a statement signed by Bunmi Olaseinde, the Public Relations Officer of the Directorate on Wednesday, stressing the need for sustained vigilance in line with recent advisories from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC).

Adebiyi urged residents to remain vigilant and adopt responsible health behaviors that protect both individual and community wellbeing.
He recommended regular handwashing with soap and clean water or the use of alcohol-based sanitisers, as well as observing proper respiratory etiquette, including covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
Residents were also advised to avoid close contact with individuals exhibiting symptoms such as cough, fever, or difficulty in breathing, while ensuring proper ventilation in homes, workplaces, and public spaces.
The NOA boss further encouraged prompt medical consultation for anyone feeling unwell and warned against self-medication. It also emphasised the importance of staying informed through verified updates from relevant health authorities.
The Agency appealed to community leaders, religious institutions, market associations, and youth groups across the state to support ongoing awareness campaigns and encourage compliance with public health guidelines.
Adebiyi reiterated that prevention remains the most effective strategy in combating infectious diseases, urging residents to remain vigilant, responsible, and united in protecting public health.
The Agency reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to promote awareness and ensure accurate information reaches every part of the State.
