According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media and Publicity Team of the Ediri Oyibo Book Launch Committee, the publication is the product of extensive research and hands-on professional experience.
It offers in-depth insights into contemporary journalism, with particular emphasis on digital transformation, ethical reporting, media sustainability and the evolving dynamics of news production in a rapidly changing global landscape.
The public presentation is expected to draw key stakeholders from across the media industry, academia, policy circles and the wider public. Organisers say the event will serve as a platform to stimulate critical conversations around the challenges and opportunities confronting modern journalism, particularly within emerging democracies such as Nigeria.
Speaking on the motivation behind the book, Oyibo said the work seeks to bridge the gap between traditional journalism principles and the realities of the digital age.
“This book is a response to the urgent need for innovation, credibility and adaptability in journalism. It is designed to equip media practitioners with the tools required to navigate the complexities of today’s information ecosystem,” he said.
Beyond the book launch, the event will also feature the presentation of research findings on the state of journalism in Nigeria. The research is expected to highlight key issues affecting journalists, particularly those operating within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in networking sessions, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among media professionals and other stakeholders.
The event is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 30 April 2026, at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Utako, Abuja, with further details on special guests to be announced in due course.
