Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has nominated Dr Olufunke Tayo-Makanjuola for appointment as the acting State Auditor-General, subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The nomination, according to a statement issued by the Office of the State Auditor-General, was conveyed through Circular No. CIR/HOS/’26/052 dated July 28, 2026, by the Office of the Head of Service and took effect from the same date.
Before her nomination, Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts.
The statement said, “Before her nomination for the appointment, Dr Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts, where she distinguished herself through exceptional professionalism, integrity, and dedication to public financial management.”
The statement added that the nominee was born on September 20, 1974, in Ikate-Elegushi, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, and holds a Doctor of Business Administration in International Business from Lagos State University, Ojo; a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology; a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Higher National Diploma and National Diploma in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; and an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos.
It also said she is a Fellow and member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Directors and Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals.
The Office of the State Auditor-General expressed confidence in her ability to lead the agency.
The statement read, “The management and staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulate Dr Tayo-Makanjuola on her well-deserved nomination and express confidence in her ability to provide visionary leadership that will further strengthen accountability, transparency, and excellence in public sector auditing across Lagos State.”
It added, “The office also appreciates His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, for his confidence in Dr Tayo-Makanjuola’s capacity to lead the Office and advance the State’s commitment to good governance and prudent management of public resources.”
