The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its campaign against illicit drugs, dismantling no fewer than 662 drug joints across the state between June 2025 and June 2026.

Speaking on this year’s theme, ‘The World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses,’ the Commander said that the agency had sustained efforts to tackle both the supply and demand sides of drug abuse through robust enforcement and community-based interventions.
He revealed that within the period under review, the Command arrested 1,107 suspects, comprising 1,075 males and 32 females. Out of the number arrested, 284 suspects were charged to court, while 245 were successfully convicted.
The Command also intercepted a total of 12,724.652 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs and psychotropic substances. The seizures included 9,091.974 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 3,345.558 kilograms of psychotropic substances, 301.852 kilograms of tramadol, 2.949 kilograms of methamphetamine, 0.315 kilograms of cocaine, and 0.004 kilograms of heroin.
On rehabilitation and drug demand reduction, Commander Muhammad said the agency admitted 94 clients for treatment during the period, with 78 successfully rehabilitated and reintegrated into society. He added that 1,458 individuals also benefited from brief intervention services aimed at preventing substance abuse and promoting recovery.
The Commander attributed much of the agency’s success to its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, which he said has continued to mobilise traditional rulers, religious leaders, educational institutions, youth groups and other stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.
He stressed that addressing the menace requires a whole-of-society approach, noting that the responsibility of combating illicit drugs extends beyond security agencies to every member of the community.
Commander Muhammad also expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, as well as sister security agencies and other partners, for their continued support and collaboration in strengthening the fight against drug trafficking and ensuring peace and security across the state.
