The broader rollout follows Google’s initial introduction of AirDrop interoperability for the Pixel 10 family in late 2025.
The broader rollout follows Google’s initial introduction of AirDrop interoperability for the Pixel 10 family in late 2025.
The company announced during its Android Show ahead of Google I/O 2026 that Quick Share compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop will roll out to additional Android manufacturers this year, including Samsung and OPPO.
The update marks one of Google’s biggest steps towards improving interoperability between Android and Apple ecosystems, an area where AirDrop has long dominated among iPhone users.
To bridge compatibility gaps for unsupported devices, Google is also introducing QR code-based sharing through the cloud, allowing Android users to quickly transfer files to iPhones and other devices even without native AirDrop compatibility.
The feature is already available on selected devices such as the Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 series, Pixel 8a, Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup, OPPO Find X9 series, Find N6 and Vivo X300 Ultra smartphones.
Google said support will later expand to more premium devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Fold7, Z Flip6 and Flip7, OPPO Find X8 series, OnePlus 15, HONOR Magic V6 and Magic8 Pro.
Quick Share will also be integrated into third-party apps, with WhatsApp among the first confirmed partners.
The move could significantly reduce friction for users switching between Android and iOS devices, particularly as Google also upgrades its wireless iPhone-to-Android migration tools to support transfers of passwords, messages, apps, contacts and home screen layouts.
