Nigerian influencer Blessing Okoro has apologised following widespread controversy surrounding her claim of battling stage four cancer, while also offering refunds to individuals who donated towards her treatment.
The issue gained public attention after Blessing shared a medical report to support her claim and solicited financial assistance. However, the report was later disputed by Xinus Medical Diagnostics, which alleged that the document had been altered and originally issued to another patient. The situation escalated after the individual linked to the report publicly addressed the matter, prompting petitions and calls for investigation from concerned parties, including the Nigerian Cancer Society.
In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Blessing apologised for the controversy and pledged to be more transparent with her medical information going forward, while maintaining that her health condition is genuine.
“I am sorry for the unnecessary drama, embarrassment, and controversy surrounding my health issues. I sincerely apologise. Going forward, I promise to be transparent with all my medical reports, including my scans and biopsy results,” she said.
She added that she would begin releasing detailed medical updates and take the public along throughout her treatment process.
“Please be patient with me, as I will take you along on this journey, just like I did during my liposuction and BBL journey. I did not lie about my health issues. I will start by officially uploading my scan results and biopsy details and keep you all informed every step of the way.”
Addressing those who contributed financially, the influencer expressed gratitude while also offering refunds to individuals uncomfortable with the situation.
“Thank you so much for all the love and well wishes. To well-meaning Nigerians who contributed towards my health, I am deeply grateful and do not take your support for granted.
“To those who feel uncomfortable with the controversies, I am willing to offer refunds. Kindly send a WhatsApp message or DM with your receipt and account details, and you will be refunded.”
In additional posts, she shared visuals of herself undergoing a medical scan and images of her hand, stating that it has endured repeated procedures during treatment.
“My hands have been through a lot due to repeated punctures while trying to access my veins,” she said.
In a separate caption accompanying her apology, she wrote:“Hey guys.My name is okoro blessing NkirukaPopularly know as blessingceo.I want to start by saying l am sorry, very sorry to my loved ones, fans, well wishers and to all Nigerians.I am sorry for the unnecessary drama, embarrassment and controversy surrounding my health issues.i want to genuinely apologize, 1 am sorry.Going forward I will carry you all along, just like I carried you all during my liposuction and bbl journey. Please be patient with me, I did not lie about my health issues.I will start by uploading my scan results officially down to my biopsy and carry you all on this journey. The development has continued to generate reactions online, with many observers awaiting further medical evidence while others focus on the broader concerns around public trust, accountability, and transparency in online fundraising.
