Three prominent former members of the Osun State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), deepening concerns over internal divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The ex-lawmakers — Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakare and Folorunso Oladoyin — formally announced their exit through separate resignation letters addressed to APC chairmen in their respective local government areas between June 1 and June 2.

While Bakare attributed his departure to what he described as a lack of internal democracy within the party, Oyediran and Oladoyin did not disclose specific reasons for leaving.
The trio are influential political figures in Osun politics. Oyediran represented Odo Otin State Constituency from 1999 to 2003. Bakare served as lawmaker for Ejigbo State Constituency between 2003 and 2007, while Oladoyin represented Ife South from 2011 to 2019 and later served as Commissioner for Education under former governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
Their resignations have sparked speculation about the political future of former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, with whom all three are closely associated.
However, Omisore’s camp dismissed suggestions that the former deputy governor plans to leave the party, insisting that the resignations were personal decisions.
Reacting, Osun APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, downplayed the development, stressing that the party remains unshaken and continues to attract prominent defectors from opposition parties.
