President Tinubu won the APC direct primary with 10.9 million votes. His sole challenger, Edo State businessman and APC chieftain Stanley Osifo, secured 16,505 votes.
During his address at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, the President extended an olive branch to his opponent. He explicitly stated, “I owe you no grudge, including Osifo, who spent his money,” emphasising that democracy thrives on a diversity of ideas.
Stanley Osifo formally conceded defeat, received a pat on the back from the President, and reiterated his commitment to the party.
He promised he would never work against the success of the APC despite the electoral outcome.
The brief meeting and public handshake in Abuja were widely seen as strategic steps to promote internal unity and reconciliation within the ruling party immediately following the nationwide ward-level voting.
