Victor Fagbola, CEO and lead photographer at Vencedor Photography said the industry has evolved significantly through technological innovation.
“Photography keeps evolving,” he said. “From the camera’s we shoot with to the way we edit, deliver, and communicate with clients, technology has completely transformed the industry.”
According to him, photo editing was once one of the most time-consuming parts of photography, often taking several days to complete.
Processes such as skin retouching, removing distractions, balancing colours, and maintaining consistency across large batches of images required extensive manual effort, he said.
However, AI-powered editing platforms are now changing that reality.
Fagbola said tools such as Evoto AI and other smart retouching technologies have drastically reduced editing time while maintaining quality and natural-looking results.
“Tasks that once required painstaking manual adjustments can now be completed far more efficiently,” he stated. “It allows photographers to focus more on storytelling, creativity, and delivering a better experience to clients.”
He also highlighted the growing impact of AI-powered features in Adobe products, particularly Generative Fill in Adobe Photoshop and the Remove Tool in Adobe Lightroom Classic.
Fagbola said these tools have simplified post-production work by allowing photographers to remove distractions, extend backgrounds, and enhance scenes much faster than before.
Beyond editing, Fagbola noted that Artificial Intelligence has also improved the business side of photography through workflow automation, client communication tools, booking management systems, and invoice generation.
“AI tools help streamline client management and automate repetitive tasks,” he said. “This means photographers can spend less time on administrative work and more time creating.”
He added that creative preparation has equally benefited from emerging technologies. Tools like ChatGPT are increasingly being used to generate moodboard ideas, research concepts, refine creative direction, and improve communication with clients.
Fagbola said online tutorials, cloud collaboration systems, AI-assisted research, and digital communities have also made learning and adaptation easier for photographers.
Despite the growing influence of artificial intelligence, he stressed that technology cannot replace the human aspect of photography.
“Photography is still deeply human,” he said. “Capturing emotions, directing people naturally, and creating timeless images comes from experience, intuition, and connection.”
He described AI as a tool that enhances creativity rather than replacing it.
“For me, AI is not a replacement for creativity; it is an enhancement,” Fagbola said. “It removes limitations, speeds up repetitive tasks, and creates more room for meaningful storytelling.”
As technology continues to evolve, Fagbola believes photographers who successfully combine innovation with authenticity will remain competitive in the future of the industry.
