Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri unveiled the initiative in Yola, Adamawa State Capital, on Monday, announcing plans for the procurement of 1,000 electric tricycles for youths as part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable transportation and job creation.
The project, developed in partnership with A4&T Group, positions Adamawa among the emerging subnational players driving Nigeria’s transition toward renewable energy-powered mobility solutions.
Speaking at the launch, Governor Fintiri said the initiative reflects the State’s commitment to building a modern economy anchored on innovation, clean energy, and private sector collaboration.
“This is the beginning of a transformational journey that will redefine energy access, transportation, and economic opportunity across Adamawa State,” the governor said.
BusinessDay reports that the partnership between the State Government and A4&T Group originated from discussions at the 2025 Investor Roundtable organised by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), where Adamawa showcased investment opportunities in renewable energy and infrastructure development.
Under the collaboration, more than 6,000 households across several local government areas have already received Solar Home Systems, improving electricity access for homes and small businesses.
A key highlight of the initiative was the unveiling of electric tricycles assembled locally in Adamawa by Sparrow Mobility Ltd, the e-mobility subsidiary of A4&T Group.
The Assembly plant, located in Yola, is expected to support local capacity development, create jobs and deepen technology transfer in the State.
Governor Fintiri said the state’s long-term goal is to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower transportation costs, and shield residents from rising fuel prices while promoting environmentally sustainable growth.
