Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has submitted his governorship nomination and expression of interest forms at the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja, promising to focus on what he described as a “total rescue mission” in Kebbi State.

The submission, confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, was presented alongside key elements of his campaign priorities for the 2027 governorship race.

According to the statement, Malami said his ambition was driven by the need to reverse what he described as years of decline in Kebbi State, with emphasis on security, agriculture, infrastructure, education and healthcare.
“This historic submission was completed in full compliance with the party’s guidelines and has since triggered an overwhelming wave of excitement across Kebbi State, where citizens now boldly describe the moment as the formal launch of Operation Rescue,” the statement said.
The former minister, who is entering the race under the ADC platform, said he was offering himself as a leader with tested national experience, having served in government for eight years at the federal level.
The statement outlined his proposed governance focus, including restoring security, revitalising agriculture, rebuilding infrastructure, and improving access to education and healthcare services across the state.
“He is ready to deploy strategic competence to restore security, revive agriculture, rebuild infrastructure, and return hope to millions of suffering Kebbi people,” it stated.
The media office also described the ADC as a political platform committed to accountability, inclusion and development.
It further claimed that growing public concern over insecurity, school dropouts and healthcare challenges was driving demand for change in the state.
“The people of Kebbi are no longer waiting for relief that never comes; the rescue has officially begun,” the statement added.
Malami is expected to begin consultations across all 21 local government areas of Kebbi State ahead of the party’s primary election.
