It was signed by the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Timothy Olatunji, the Synod Secretary, Rev. Samuel Oniyinde, and obtained in Osogbo on Sunday.
The Synod specifically condemned the recent abduction and killing of innocent citizens in Esinle Community, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.
It extended condolences to the bereaved families and urged “security agencies and government authorities to intensify rescue operations for victims still in captivity” while ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.
Ahead of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, the church called on “security agencies to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, impartiality, and diligence.”
It emphasised the need for a peaceful, free, fair, and credible electoral process, and “appealed to political actors, their supporters, and citizens to avoid actions capable of undermining peace and stability in the state.”
In addition, the Synod sympathised with the people of Esa-Oke over the passing of their monarch, His Royal Majesty Oba Adeyemi Akanni Adediran, the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, who joined his ancestors on May 6, 2026.
PUNCH Online reports that rising tension ahead of the governorship poll in Osun has been a source of concern to many observers of political events in the state and residents.
On Tuesday, June 9, suspected political hoodlums reportedly engaged in sporadic shooting in Aisu, Owode-Ede, Aregbesola, and Olaiya areas of Osogbo, causing panic among residents.
After the incident, which left about three people injured, the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the leadership of the opposition All Progressives Congress traded blame over the identities of the perpetrators.
