Sanwo-Olu said Eid-el-Kabir holds deep spiritual significance, noting that it reflects the devotion and perseverance of Prophet Ibrahim.
“This symbolic Islamic festival is a reminder to us that there will always be great rewards when we have abiding faith and patience in trying periods, with persistence in prayers, and tenacity in our belief,” he said.
The governor also urged residents to embrace the lessons of sacrifice beyond religious observance, stressing its importance for national development.
“It also reminds us of the sacrifice we are expected to make not only for the purpose of spiritual fulfilment but also for the progress of mankind and development of our society,” he added.
He called on Nigerians to promote unity and avoid actions that could threaten national stability.
“I want to appeal to all Lagos residents and Nigerians to draw lessons from Prophet Ibrahim’s examples by eschewing tendencies that could severe the unity and stability in the country,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu further encouraged support for the federal government’s development agenda under President Bola Tinubu, describing nation-building as a shared responsibility among citizens.
