The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed that missing NYSC member and lawyer, Linda Ameh, has been found days after she was reportedly abducted in Abuja.

The Command disclosed this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Sunday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

According to the statement, Ameh personally reported to the Maitama Police Station after regaining freedom and is currently assisting investigators with information relating to the incident.
“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that Ms Linda Ameh, the legal practitioner earlier reported missing on 6th May 2026, has been found and personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to provide details of the incident,” the statement read.
The police added that investigations were ongoing to track down those responsible for the abduction.
“The Command further states that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the crime, while Ms. Ameh is assisting the Police with useful information to aid ongoing investigative efforts and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended,” the statement added.
Ameh was abducted on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory shortly after closing from work.
Her disappearance had sparked concern within the Nigerian Bar Association, which publicly demanded urgent action from security agencies.
NBA President Afam Osigwe, in a statement issued on Saturday night, described the incident as deeply troubling to members of the legal profession.
“When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association; it is personal,” Osigwe said.
“We are more than a professional body; we are a community bound by shared sacrifice, shared dreams, and a collective duty to stand for one another,” he added.
Reports indicated that Ameh had recently begun working as a Sales Manager with Blades and Butchers Ltd located on Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama, while also preparing to complete her NYSC programme.
According to family accounts, she was last seen around 5:40 p.m. on the day of her disappearance while heading from work to her residence in Life Camp, Abuja.
