2027: BOOT Party unveils Ogun governorship candidate

The 2027 governorship candidate of the BOOT Party for Ogun State, Adekunle Adenuga, has promised to address the state’s developmental challenges through what he described as a practical and well-researched blueprint developed over the last 16 years.

Adenuga made the pledge on Thursday while accepting the party’s governorship ticket during the unveiling of its candidates at the party secretariat in Arinlese, Abeokuta.

Expressing appreciation to the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him, the governorship candidate said he accepted the nomination with a deep sense of responsibility and a commitment to delivering purposeful leadership.

He disclosed that his aspiration is not driven by a desire to criticise previous administrations but by a determination to provide sustainable solutions to the challenges confronting Ogun State and Nigeria.

Adenuga said the development blueprint prepared by his team aligns with national development goals and could serve as a model for other states if successfully implemented in Ogun.

He noted that although the vision had existed for several years, the opportunity had now arisen to make it a reality.

He said, “I accept the responsibility of being the flag bearer of this party. For over 16 years, I have dedicated myself to finding practical solutions to the problems confronting our society. We have carefully developed our plans and agenda, and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to begin implementing them in Ogun State.

“I did not come to condemn anybody. I came to address the real issues affecting our people. We have a practical and structured plan that will tackle the challenges facing the state.

“Our blueprint is designed for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but we are starting from Ogun State to demonstrate that it can work. When people begin to see the results, other states will naturally be interested in adopting the model.

“I don’t want to repeat the promises Nigerians have heard repeatedly from political parties. We continue to hear the same commitments regarding healthcare, education, infrastructure and security, yet the expected transformation has not materialized. Our approach is different because it is backed by practical solutions.”

Earlier, the Ogun State Chairman of the Boot Party, Abiodun Akerele, said the party would prioritise transparency, accountability, the rule of law and selfless service if elected into office.

Akerele described the principles as the foundation of the party’s ideology, adding that the party operates on the motto, “Fiduciary, Obedience and Service.”

He explained that the party remained committed to prudent management of public resources and strict compliance with constitutional provisions.

According to him, the party distinguishes itself by maintaining financial accountability, including compliance with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s requirement to submit annual financial reports detailing its income and expenditure.

He said, “Our party gives a detailed account of every income and expenditure every year as required by INEC. Accountability is one of our core values, and when we are entrusted with public office, we will ensure that every resource held in trust for the people is properly accounted for.

“Without obedience, there can be no discipline, no progress, and crime will thrive. In this party, our constitution is supreme, and every member is expected to abide by the rules and regulations.”

Akerele added that the party was established to serve the people rather than to pursue personal interests, assuring that its elected officials would place citizens’ welfare above personal or political considerations.
