Barau Ibrahim Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, has distributed 47 Sharon cars and over 280 Boxer motorcycles to officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the Kano North Senatorial District, describing the initiative as part of efforts to boost grassroots empowerment and economic self-reliance. The beneficiaries, drawn from APC local government chairmen, secretaries and other party stakeholders, were presented with the vehicles under what the senator’s aides described as support for the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking on behalf of the senator, Salihu Sagir, Kano State Coordinator of the programme, said the distribution was aimed at helping beneficiaries improve their livelihoods and reduce poverty at the community level. He noted that the gesture was part of a broader commitment by Jibrin to human and capital development in the district. “This intervention is designed to ease economic hardship and create opportunities for income generation among beneficiaries,” he said, adding that more phases of the programme would follow. Also speaking,Mohammed Ibn Abdullahi,Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, described the initiative as a “capital-intensive intervention” capable of moving beneficiaries towards financial independence. He commended Jibrin’s sustained empowerment efforts, noting that they were already making tangible impacts across Kano North. Abdullahi urged recipients to make productive use of the vehicles rather than selling them, stressing that the goal of the programme was long-term economic stability. Similarly, Jibrin’s media aide, Shittu Madaki, said the distribution covered dozens of vehicles and motorcycles, adding that the selection process for beneficiaries was carefully conducted. He assured that the current phase would not be the last, as additional rounds of support were being planned. Takai further said the initiative aligns with the broader policy direction of the Tinubu administration, particularly its focus on grassroots development and poverty reduction. The distribution is one of several empowerment programmes linked to the senator in recent years, as political actors increasingly deploy welfare initiatives to strengthen support bases and address economic challenges at the local level.
