Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu has named a strong lineup for Nigeria’s clash with Malawi at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Super Falcons coach Justin Madugu has named a strong lineup for Nigeria’s clash with Malawi at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The starting XI includes regulars like Chiamaka Nnadozie, Osinachi Ohale, Esther Okoronkwo, Tosin Demehin and Mitchelle Alozie, among others.
Nigeria take on the Scorchers, debutants in the competition, in the Group C clash in Rabat, seeking to begin their WAFCON defence quest on a good note.
Chiamaka starts in goal while Alozie, Demehin, Ohale and Shukurat Oladipo marshal the defence. Veteran Halimatu Ayinde, skipper Rasheedat Ajibade, and Jenifer Echegini are running things in midfield.
Nigeria’s attack is spearheaded by Chiwendu Ihezuo with support from Esther Okoronkwo and Folashade Ijamilusi
The game is the 34th match that Ajibade will be playing as the Super Falcons captain. Nigeria are the defending champions and are seeking a record-extending 11th crown in Morocco.
This year’s WAFCON also serves as the qualification tournament for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. The four semi-finalists are guaranteed an automatic place in the competition.
