Brighton, appearing in their first-ever Women’s FA Cup final, started brightly but were undone by the quality of City’s star forward Khadija Shaw.
The Jamaican international, who recently signed a new four-year contract, reportedly making her the highest-paid player in women’s football, opened the scoring by powering home a header from Alex Greenwood’s cross.
City doubled their advantage before the break when Brighton goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was unable to keep out Greenwood’s low free-kick.
The champions continued to dominate after halftime, with substitute Aoba Fujino adding a third goal following excellent work from Shaw.
Experienced forward Vivianne Miedema completed the rout three minutes from time to seal a comprehensive victory for the Manchester club.
The triumph secured City’s fourth Women’s FA Cup crown, adding to their previous successes in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Having already captured the Women’s Super League title earlier this month, City capped off a memorable season by completing a domestic double and reaffirming their status as the dominant force in English women’s football.
