He stated this following the donation of a solar-powered borehole to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Abuja by the Cornerstone Insurance Plc Foundation, reaffirming the insurer’s commitment to providing access to clean and sustainable water.
The project, according to the firm, was commissioned recently, reflecting Cornerstone’s vision of protecting lives and property by promoting health and sustainability. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Clean Water and Sanitation and Climate Action.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Alangbo, who was represented by the Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Cordelia Ekeocha, said the initiative emphasises the company’s commitment to supporting communities and promoting sustainability.
He said, “We believe that all our initiatives should have a lasting impact in the lives of the recipients. The CIPLCF is committed to promoting community support, education, and health and safety, hence this borehole project is significant.”
Receiving the project on behalf of the NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier-General Mohammed Marwa (Retd), the Director of Technical Services, DCG Ambrose Umoru, commended the foundation for the donation, noting that the borehole would provide reliable access to clean water for the agency.
Clean water is a basic health and sanitation requirement for law enforcement operations, barracks and detention facilities. Providing a solar-powered borehole ensures a continuous, self-sustaining water supply that bypasses local grid failures and avoids recurrent diesel costs for generators.
Cornerstone Insurance Plc is a dominant, publicly quoted player in Nigeria’s insurance sector, established in 1991. The company holds a massive market footprint, managing group assets worth over N121bn and a market capitalisation of over N65bn as of late 2024.
