President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have directed the fractional leaders to harmonised their differences ahead of the party preparation for the next 2027 general election.
Recalled that there had been crisis in Benue State chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC over who controls the party structure.
However, contrary to the president directive, both Akume and Alia rather gives a discanting press briefing on the process of nomination of candidates ahead of the 2027 general election which triggers suspiciously to be unresolved interest in the strategic party structure struggle.
Speaking to reporters after the talks, the SGF said all sides agreed to move forward.
“We have seen where we went wrong, and we want to fix it. We want everyone to have a place. We want inclusion in this party,” Akume said.
He said Governor Alia apologized during the meeting. “Alia said he was sorry for what had happened. That is very good,” Akume noted.
Akume added that the President wants all elected APC members to return to the party.
“All those elected on the APC platform, from the State Assembly to the National Assembly, must come back. It is automatic,” he said.
Governor Alia, however, said the President and the APC National Chairman have made it clear that there are no automatic tickets for any candidate.
“The President and the National Chairman said there is no automatic ticket for anyone in the party,” Alia told reporters.
The governor said he apologized to keep peace in the party.
“We all agreed to come under one roof to reconcile and find common ground. We did this for the progress of our party and the good of Benue State,” he said.
“We can not miss the chance for our people to enjoy good governance,” Alia added.
Following this insequential address, political observer believes the effect of the meeting could be seen a days time.
