Ezekiel Nya-Etok, Executive Director, Estate Services, FHA, disclosed this on Wednesday while representing Oyetunde Ojo, managing director and chief executive of the authority, at the groundbreaking ceremony of the estate.
Ezekiel Nya-Etok, Executive Director, Estate Services, FHA, disclosed this on Wednesday while representing Oyetunde Ojo, managing director and chief executive of the authority, at the groundbreaking ceremony of the estate.
According to him, the acquisition of land across the states forms part of the authority’s strategy to establish a presence in all regions of the country and accelerate housing delivery through strategic partnerships.
“In readiness to have a presence in all the regions of the country, we have visited 28 states where each of the governors has given us prime lands. We have also commenced the process of construction in some of the states, having procured the contracts,” he said.
Nya-Etok noted that the authority had already conducted groundbreaking ceremonies in Akwa Ibom, Abia, Kaduna, and Abeokuta, adding that the Abuja project marks another milestone in the FHA’s nationwide housing expansion drive.
The FHA Green City Estate is being developed in partnership with Green Pasture Homes on a five-hectare site in Wasa, Abuja. The project will deliver 213 housing units comprising two-bedroom blocks of flats, three-bedroom terrace houses, four-bedroom terraces, and three-bedroom detached homes.
Speaking on the significance of the project, Nya-Etok reaffirmed FHA’s commitment to providing affordable and quality housing for Nigerians through collaboration with private sector developers.
He said the authority remains focused on creating lasting value for citizens while leveraging strategic partnerships to bridge the country’s housing deficit.
The FHA executive also highlighted reforms aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening property management systems within the Authority.
According to him, FHA has commenced the digitalisation of its property files, which are now secured on the Galaxy Backbone platform, while efforts are ongoing to fully automate its operations.
“Our management is building a new Federal Housing Authority where allottees’ properties are secured. Our services are becoming faster and more seamless. We have also made our test laboratory operational for geological and integrity tests,” he stated.
Nya-Etok further revealed that FHA had successfully completed and commissioned several inherited projects over the past 26 months, including 100 housing units in Ibadan, the FHA Expressview Estate in Lugbe, Abuja, the FHA Complex in Lugbe, and the FHA Shopping Mall in Gwarinpa.
“These were projects inherited from our predecessors and considered irredeemable and unachievable, but we have delivered them,” he said.
He added that work was progressing steadily on the 336-unit FHA Estate in Bwari, Abuja, with a target of commissioning the project before the end of the year.
Assuring prospective homeowners and investors, Nya-Etok pledged that the Authority would uphold the highest standards of quality assurance, transparency and accountability throughout the execution of the Green City Estate project.
Also speaking at the event, Oba Akintoye Adeoye, president of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), described the project as a testament to the opportunities within Nigeria’s housing sector and the impact of the federal government’s Renewed Hope Housing Initiative.
He said the project demonstrated how collaboration between government and the private sector could unlock investment opportunities, stimulate economic growth and provide affordable housing for Nigerians.
“Projects such as FHA Green City Estate will not only provide decent shelter for thousands of Nigerians but will also generate employment opportunities, stimulate ancillary industries and contribute to national economic growth,” Adeoye said.
He urged stakeholders in the built environment to continue promoting innovation, sustainability and inclusive housing solutions to ensure wider access to affordable homes across the country.
