The decision followed a series of enlarged consultative meetings convened by the governor across the three senatorial districts of the state, aimed at fostering unity and avoiding internal disputes over party tickets.
The meetings were held at the Christian Ecumenical centre for Ebonyi South, the APC State Secretariat along Water Works Road, Abakaliki for Ebonyi North, and Remeritona Hotels for Ebonyi Central.
The gatherings were designed to facilitate agreement on candidates for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate.
Although some constituencies were initially stepped down due to disagreements, party leaders resolved all outstanding issues at a high-level meeting held on Friday at the Governor’s Office.
The expanded meeting drew an influential crowd, including former governors, former deputy governors, serving and former members of the National Assembly, principal officers of the State House of Assembly, as well as former ministers and ambassadors.
Anyim Pius Anyim former Senate President while addressing journalists after the meeting, described the outcome as a major step toward party cohesion and stability.
“As stakeholders of the party, we convened to review earlier deliberations, and today’s meeting has been very productive. Every stakeholder agreed that this is the best way to run a party,” he said.
He added that all constituencies had now embraced consensus, effectively eliminating the need for internal contests for party tickets.
“No constituency will be contested as all issues regarding consensus have been resolved and adopted,” Anyim stated.
The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation further disclosed that stakeholders urged Governor Nwifuru to sustain his governance approach, noting that it aligns with global democratic ideals and promotes political harmony.
A political analyst Aman Aman said the move is widely seen as a strategic effort by the Ebonyi APC to consolidate unity, prevent intra-party crises, and strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 elections.
