The LP chairman also dismissed rumours of his suspension from the party, describing them as fabrications by enemies of the party in the state.
He extended a hand of fellowship to all camps within the Labour Party in the state, noting that continued disagreements among members and supporters could negatively affect the party’s chances in the forthcoming primaries and the 2027 general elections.
Ombugu told journalists that, as the state chairman of the LP with full recognition from the Independent National Electoral Commission, the responsibility of uniting the party ahead of the elections rests on him and other executives, hence his call for peace and harmony.
“The Labour Party in Nasarawa State has always been united. Even now, we are still very much united, but I observed that recently, some group of persons within the party decided to be doing things differently from what we are doing. They don’t collaborate with other members of the party including myself.
“So, I feel that it is important for me to extend my hands of fellowship to all LP members and supporters in the state who may be aggrieved for one reason or the other.
“As Chairman of the party, I am ready to discuss extensively with any leader, stakeholder or group in the party to enable us resolve all outstanding issues before the 2027 political activities will fully commence,” he said.
Ombugu recalled that, in line with the Constitution of Nigeria, INEC and the Labour Party, ward, local government and state congresses were peacefully conducted in December 2025, adding that the processes were monitored by the electoral body and security agencies.
He urged members and supporters not to allow ongoing legal disputes among national leaders of the party to discourage them from supporting the party.
While assuring all that the LP would work towards victory at both state and national levels in 2027, Ombugu expressed optimism that the party would emerge stronger despite current challenges.
