Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration has been taking bold steps in addressing banditry across Zamfara State. In 2026, the governor has redoubled the valiant efforts by allocating nearly N40 billion for the same purpose. Less than six months into the year, as evidenced in this interactive infographics, Governor Lawal had procured state-of-the-art reconnaissance and attack drones, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), gun trucks, patrol vehicles, communication and surveillance equipment, among other logistical support infrastructure.

The administration has equally acquired security hardware that include weapons, surveillance and communication gadgets, patrol vehicles, super bikes, and other security gear to the state-owned security outfit, Askarawan Zamfara.
These milestones have elicited commendations from critical stakeholders in the security, defence and intelligence superstructure such as Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Amina Muhammed, Commandant of the Nigerian Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Mr J.O. Odama, among others. With these efforts taking its toll on the non-state actors in Zamfara, the war against banditry is recording tremendous successes and would soon be a thing of the past. END
