In a related move, the Senate also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide immediate relief materials to residents displaced by the violence.
The resolutions followed a motion raised under matters of urgent public importance by Senator Binus Yaroe, who drew attention to the escalating crisis in the area.
Presenting the motion, the lawmaker noted that the last quarter of 2026 had witnessed repeated clashes involving the Bachama and Chobo communities in the local government area, resulting in significant loss of lives, destruction of property, and mass displacement of residents.
He further recalled an incident in December 2025, when armed personnel allegedly opened fire on unarmed women in Rigange who were protesting attacks on their communities.
The Senate said its investigation will identify the causes of the violence and recommend lasting solutions to prevent further attacks.
