This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Commerce, Bunmi Jenyo, in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday, during the take-off of the return journey to Lagos of the free festive train services provided by the state government for holidaymakers who came to Osun to celebrate the Eid al-Kabir festival.
Jenyo, who described the Eid free train services as “highly successful,” also said passengers travelling to Ogun, Oyo and beyond Osun State benefitted from the initiative.
He allayed fears that governance may take a back seat as the August 15 governorship poll draws nearer, adding that the Adeleke administration would continue to pursue all ongoing developmental initiatives with due attention.
“This Eid Imole free train service of the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration is the most successful ever. We had over 3,000 passengers coming into the state using the train.
“There were so many others who also joined the train from Lagos but disembarked in Ogun and Oyo states. The service is not for Osun people alone; it is for our citizens and others interested in joining the train.
“The return trip to Lagos has also been well planned, and we hope it will also be successful. People should not nurse any apprehension about this administration. We have a governor who will continue to put the interest of the people first.
“Governor Adeleke will not abandon governance for politics because the welfare of the people comes first.
“All ongoing developmental projects will continue without hitch, even though the state is going through challenging times because the needed funds are not being made available to the governor.
“Those who came around for the holidays have been speaking on their experiences, seeing many projects across the state.
“We will not relent; that is an assurance from the state helmsman,” Jenyo said.
He called on the populace to continue supporting Adeleke, especially in the next governorship poll, saying that through their support, more initiatives would be introduced and executed for the well-being of the people.
The PUNCH reports that the Osun State Government has said its festive free train service for this year’s Eid al-Kabir festival was the most successful so far, as over 3,000 holidaymakers who joined the train from Lagos arrived in the state.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, after receiving the holidaymakers who arrived at Osogbo Train Station late on Tuesday.
A statement signed by the Information Officer of the ministry, Ademiotan Adegbulugbe, obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, stated that Jenyo, who was flanked by some top officials of the ministry, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for sustaining the initiative despite the financial challenges confronting his administration.
