Fiona Ahimie elected as Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers’ first female President
Fiona Ahimie has been elected as the 14th President and Chairman of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), becoming the first woman to hold the position in the Institute’s history.

Her election by the Council marks a significant milestone for gender inclusion at the highest level of the Institute.
Ahimie will succeed Oluropo Dada and is scheduled to be formally inaugurated on June 25, when her tenure officially begins.
Outgoing President Oluropo Dada expressed confidence in Ahimie’s leadership and her ability to build on existing progress.
Her emergence also reflects the Institute’s structured succession process, having previously served as 2nd Vice President and later 1st Vice President.
Following her elevation, Dr. Akeem Oyewale has assumed the role of 1st Vice President, while the position of 2nd Vice President will be filled in due course.
Dada, during the Institute’s 31st Annual General Meeting in Lagos, highlighted key achievements recorded during his tenure.
He also noted improvements in funding, debt recovery efforts, and broader stakeholder engagement across the industry.
Ahimie brings over 15 years of experience in the financial services sector and currently serves as Managing Director of First Securities Brokers Limited, a subsidiary of First Holdco Plc.
Her extensive professional background positions her to drive the Institute’s next phase of growth and development.
Oluropo Dada was elected as the 13th President and Chairman of the CIS Governing Council in 2024.
He succeeded Oluwole Adeosun after the completion of his tenure.
His administration focused on strengthening the Institute’s brand and financial base.
Several structural and policy reforms were implemented under his leadership.
Ahimie’s emergence signals continuity in leadership while also marking a historic shift in the Institute’s governance structure.
