The candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the August 15 Osun governorship poll, Dr Najeem Salaam, has described the ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, which ordered the deregistration of the party, as a miscarriage of justice.

Salaam, in a statement he personally signed, obtained on Monday in Osogbo, however, said appropriate legal processes will correct the judicial pronouncement and protect the democratic rights of millions of Nigerians who have chosen the ADC as their political platform.

He declared that the judgment cannot stand as it is neither the end of the legal process nor the end of the political journey of the party.
“I have the news of the Federal High Court judgment purportedly ordering the deregistration of our great party, the ADC, alongside some other political parties.
“Democracy is governed by the rule of law, and our Constitution provides clear avenues for appeal and judicial review.
“We are confident that the appropriate legal processes will correct any miscarriage of justice and protect the democratic rights of millions of Nigerians who have chosen the ADC as their political platform,” he said.
He urged members of the party and supporters across the 30 local government areas, the area office, and every community in Osun State to remain calm, resolute, and focused.
He further said, “There is absolutely no reason for panic. The ADC in Osun State is not merely a political party; it is a movement driven by the collective aspiration of our people for competent leadership, transparent governance, economic prosperity, quality education, improved healthcare, and security of lives and property. No court judgment at this stage can extinguish the hopes and aspirations of the people.”
He stated that the party’s campaign remains on course and expressed commitment to offering Osun State a credible alternative.
He noted that the growing support the ADC has been receiving from workers, farmers, artisans, students, youths, women, traditional institutions, and professionals across the state was a clear indication that the people have embraced the vision for a new Osun.
“To our teeming supporters, I urge you not to be distracted by the antics of those who fear the growing popularity and acceptance of our movement.
“History has shown that whenever a people-driven political movement emerges, forces opposed to change often resort to every available means to slow its momentum. However, no obstacle can stand against the collective will of the people.
“The August 15, 2026, Governorship Election remains about the future of Osun State. It is about creating jobs for our youths, making education truly accessible, improving healthcare delivery, ensuring security, providing stable electricity, and restoring good governance,” the ADC candidate said.
