According to Football Insider, the performances placed him firmly on Villa’s radar as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his wide options ahead of another Champions League campaign, but the path to Birmingham has complications on both sides of the deal.
The first is Millwall’s asking price. The South London club have already rejected a £20m offer from Ipswich Town and are holding firm at £30m for a player who has yet to play a minute of Premier League football. For a club of Villa’s ambition, that represents a significant investment in unproven top-flight quality, particularly when a more experienced alternative is available.
That alternative is Netherlands winger Crysencio Summerville, who has further boosted his stock with strong performances at the 2026 World Cup. Summerville has Premier League experience and has demonstrated he can perform at the highest level, qualities that give Villa’s recruitment team a lower-risk profile to present to Emery when weighing the two options.
Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town are also tracking Azeez, and their interest only strengthens Millwall’s negotiating hand, making it less likely that Villa will feel any urgency to improve their terms.
The broader concern for Emery is one of timing. Villa need players capable of contributing immediately in a demanding schedule of Champions League and domestic football. Azeez remains a developing talent, and the adjustment from the Championship to European competition is a significant leap that could require time Villa may not have.
None of this diminishes Azeez’s prospects of reaching the Premier League this summer as the interest from multiple clubs confirms he is ready for the step up.
