The new Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Prof. Samuel Oladipo, on Tuesday unveiled a five-year roadmap to reposition the university with a vow to pursue academic excellence, digital transformation, research innovation and financial sustainability that will place the university ahead of its peers.

Addressing a gathering that included the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Rahamon A. Bello, members of the Governing Council, principal officers, Senate members, traditional rulers, security chiefs, academics, students and other dignitaries, the new Vice-Chancellor described his appointment as both “a profound honour” and “a deep responsibility.”
Oladipo said that “It is with profound humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand before you today at this historic moment, my investiture as the sixth Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education.
“I am honoured to lead an institution founded on noble ideals, a legacy of excellence, and a steadfast commitment to education and societal progress”
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the university, established in 2005 before its transition to a Federal University in 2025, had demonstrated resilience and was now poised for greater national and international relevance.
He unveiled the university’s strategic framework, tagged the S.T.A.R.-W.I.N. agenda, which, according to him, would drive sustainable development through Sustainable Funding and Smart Governance, Technology and Digital Campus, Academic Excellence and Innovation, Research Productivity and Global Ranking, Welfare and Wellbeing, Infrastructural Development, and National Alumni and International Relations.
“Our bold yet attainable vision is to position TASFUED among Nigeria’s top 25 universities and within the top 3,000 globally by 2031.
” This aspirational goal is rooted in our unwavering belief that academic excellence, impactful research, inclusive infrastructure and digital innovation, coupled with a steadfast commitment to integrity and societal service, will be our guiding light,” Oladipo said.
To achieve the target, the Vice-Chancellor said the administration would prioritise financial sustainability through innovative revenue generation, stronger commercial ventures, professional programmes and expanded international collaborations.
He also pledged to accelerate the university’s digital transformation through improved internet connectivity, smart classrooms and technology-driven teaching, learning and administration.
Oladipo promised comprehensive curriculum reviews, expansion of academic programmes, pursuit of international accreditation and the establishment of a vibrant research ecosystem capable of improving the institution’s global visibility.
The Vice-Chancellor equally assured staff and students of improved welfare, promising investments in infrastructure, staff and student housing, transportation, healthcare and other welfare initiatives to create a more conducive learning environment.
He further disclosed that the administration would embark on the construction of modern academic facilities, upgrade laboratories and improve accessibility across the campus.
Beyond physical development, Oladipo said the university would strengthen collaborations with industries, alumni, local communities and international institutions to boost research, innovation and global competitiveness.
He stressed that the success of the administration’s vision would depend on collective commitment from all stakeholders.
“This vision calls for deliberate, accountable and transformational leadership, values I am committed to uphold. I invite every member of our community, staff, students, alumni, partners and stakeholders, to join hands in realising the immense potential of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education,” he said.
Oladipo equally paid glowing tribute to the late educationist and social critic, Dr Tai Solarin whom the institution was named after, describing the late educationist as a symbol of integrity, resilience and selfless service.
He said that Solarin’s unwavering commitment to education and national development remains the moral compass upon which the university would continue to build its future.
Speaking during the investiture, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Prof Rahmon Bello, said that Professor Oladipo emerged as the VC of the university after a diligent, rigorous, transparent, and merit-based selection process that reflected the Council’s unwavering commitment to excellence, fairness, and institutional integrity.
Bello said that the new Vice-Chancellor’s track record within the university and beyond speaks eloquently of his dedication to academic excellence, institutional development, staff welfare, student success, and community engagement.
The Council Chairman said that he has a strong belief that the new VC has what it takes to further take the university to higher height and has therefore called on the staff and the students to extend their support and cooperation to the new leadership and further advance the university’s mission of producing competent, innovative, and socially responsible graduates.
