Telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to customer’s engagement and appreciation with the hosting of its “Family Conference,” an outdoor experiential event designed to reward and connect with subscribers across different regions.
The event, held simultaneously in Benin City and Owerri, is part of MTN’s broader initiative to celebrate customers during festive periods such as Easter, Christmas, and other public holidays.
Speaking at the event, an MTN representative, Chiazokam Okeke, described the programme as an annual platform aimed at strengthening the relationship between the company and its customers, while creating memorable experiences beyond traditional service delivery.
“This is not just a party; it is a family conference—an experiential event where we engage directly with our customers. It’s happening concurrently in Benin and Owerri, and it reflects our commitment to staying connected with our subscribers across regions,” Okeke said.
Participants at the event received a variety of household items, including generators, freezers, television sets, microwaves, and gas cookers. The grand prize was a tricycle, popularly known as a “Keke Napep,” awarded as part of the company’s customers appreciation drive.
Okeke noted that the initiative also responds to the prevailing economic realities in the country by providing tangible support and uplifting customers’ morale.
“We understand the economic situation in the country. This is one of the ways we give back, celebrate our customers, and show them that we value their loyalty. Beyond the gifts, it’s about sharing love and building a stronger connection,” he added.
He further explained that the “Family Conference” is an annual programme that has been held in previous years, with plans for expansion in the future.
One of the highlights of the event was the emotional reaction of the grand prize winner, Efosa Dora, a widow, who expressed overwhelming joy after winning the tricycle.
She explained that she attended the event with her children like other participants and purchased MTN recharge cards worth ₦10,000 before later buying an additional ₦3,000 card—an action that ultimately led to her winning the prize.
“I want to say a big thank you to MTN for putting a smile on my face and the faces of my children,” she said tearfully.
Another participant, Osasere Egharevba, also commended MTN for organising the event, describing it as impactful and commendable.
