The Police Command therefore urged members of the public to disregard the false and misleading information, which was believed to have been fabricated by mischief-makers with the intent to create panic, fear, and unnecessary tension within the affected communities and the school environment.
Meanwhile, intelligence-led investigations have commenced to trace the source of the false report and ensure the identification and arrest of those responsible for spreading the misinformation.
Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, Commissioner of Police, had earlier directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to strengthen collaboration with school administrators in line with the School Protection Initiative.
He also emphasised sustained Police visibility patrols around schools to guarantee the safety and security of students, staff, and host communities.
“Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or security concerns through the following emergency contact numbers: 0703 196 4389, 0803 223 3454, 0916 880 2621,” he added.
