Osun gov’ship poll will be APC’s litmus test for 2027 – Yilwatda

BusinessDay reports that the Council is chaired by Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF).

Yilwatda said the APC commands unmatched political strength, with its ranks bolstered by serving governors, federal lawmakers, former public office holders and a steady influx of defectors from opposition parties, positioning the party to win elections at every level.

BusinessDay recalls that Osun is currently under the control of the Accord party with Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election on the party’s platform.

Describing the Osun contest as the party’s “practice ground” for 2027, he said victory was non-negotiable and pledged a massive grassroots mobilisation involving governors, National Assembly members, local government officials, women and youths.

“We will go house-to-house and person-to-person. Nothing will stop us from taking over the Government House in Osun,” he said.

Yilwatda added that the campaign council comprised “political heavyweights” capable of delivering victory.

Accepting the assignment, Uzodimma assured the party’s leadership that the council would justify the confidence reposed in it through discipline, unity and hard work.

He said the campaign would focus on engaging voters across all communities, promoting the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) and highlighting the achievements of the APC-led federal government under President Bola Tinubu and progressive administrations across the country.

Uzodimma pledged that the campaign would remain issue-based, peaceful and lawful, stressing that the council would counter misinformation with facts and conduct itself in line with the Omoluabi values of Osun State.

“We will organise, mobilise and deliver a peaceful, credible and decisive victory for the APC,” he said.

In his remarks, Oyebamiji thanked President Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) and the party’s leadership for constituting what he described as a formidable campaign team.

He said the APC had intensified mobilisation across Osun’s three senatorial districts, 30 local government areas, 332 wards and 3,762 polling units, expressing confidence that the electorate would return the state to progressive governance.

“The people of Osun are ready, the APC is ready and, together, we will win and return Osun to the progressive fold,” Oyebamiji said.
