The agreement is essentially complete, with only final paperwork remaining. Once signed, Barcelona will shift focus to planning for next season, which is expected to bring significant changes to the squad.
Club president Joan Laporta has long viewed Flick as his preferred choice to lead the team, with reports suggesting he wanted to appoint the German even before the hiring of Xavi Hernandez.
However, Flick was unavailable at the time due to his role with the Germany national football team.
He eventually joined Barcelona in May 2024 following a decisive meeting in London, where he impressed club directors with his tactical vision and commitment to developing La Masia talent.
The 61-year-old made an immediate impact, guiding Barcelona to a domestic treble, La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa, in his debut season. The team also came close to reaching the UEFA Champions League final, earning him an initial contract extension through 2027.
The new agreement will add two more years, with an option for a third, ensuring continuity under Flick’s leadership.
