The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its National Assembly primaries in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general polls.

Although the APC did not give reasons for the latest rescheduling, the party had earlier postponed its House of Representatives primaries nationwide on Thursday and fixed today for the exercise following what insiders described as logistical challenge among others.
The adjustment came amid rising tensions and consultations within the ruling party as aspirants and stakeholders intensify lobbying ahead of the primaries.
According to the revised timetable, the House of Representatives primary election will now hold on Monday, May 18, 2026, while the Senate primary has been fixed for Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The APC stated that the State House of Assembly primary would still take place on Wednesday, May 20, while the governorship primary is scheduled for Thursday, May 21.
The presidential primary remains fixed for Saturday, May 23, 2026. The statement also outlined dates for appeals arising from the primaries.
Appeals from the House of Representatives primary will be heard on May 19, Senate appeals on May 20, House of Assembly appeals on May 21, while governorship primary appeals are slated for May 22.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable, political parties are expected to conclude their primaries and resolve disputes not later than May 30, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
