Azeez made an immediate impact on his Super Eagles debut, opening the scoring early in the encounter after combining brilliantly with Terem Moffi before unleashing a powerful left-footed strike from outside the box.
Nigeria controlled possession and dictated the tempo from the opening stages, displaying composure and attacking intent throughout the contest.
The winger continued his impressive performance in the second half when he doubled Nigeria’s advantage shortly after the hour mark, calmly slotting home from an excellent assist by Philip Otele.
Zimbabwe attempted to fight back, but the Nigerian defence remained organised and disciplined to frustrate the Warriors’ attacking efforts.
Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo also produced a superb save 20 minutes from time to deny Zimbabwe any route back into the match.
The victory sends Nigeria into the Unity Cup final, where the Super Eagles will face either the India national football team or the Jamaica national football team at The Valley on Saturday.
