Over 400 children living with autism and other special needs, alongside their caregivers, have benefited from the second round of the You Matter Charity Foundation’s (YMCF) free medical outreach across Delta State.

Held at the Isoko North Local Government Council Secretariat in Ozoro, the initiative was designed to provide free medical services and break the stigma associated with special needs.
“Children living with autism and other special needs are uniquely gifted. They deserve to be embraced, protected and given every opportunity to realize their God-given potential,” she said.
Oborevwori explained that the foundation was established to restore hope to vulnerable persons through compassionate interventions that improve their quality of life. Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, health screening, medications, specialist care, counselling services and essential assistive materials.
She disclosed that the Isoko outreach was the fourth in the series, following successful programmes in the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie, Ethiope and Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituencies.
Oborevwori maintained that caring for children with special needs is a shared responsibility requiring collaboration among the government, healthcare professionals, communities, faith-based organisations, the private sector and well-meaning individuals.
She thanked the chairmen of Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas, their wives, traditional rulers, community leaders, development partners, volunteers and caregivers. She also commended Joseph Onojaeme, the Delta State Commissioner for Health, alongside the ministry’s staff and the medical team.
Onojaeme lauded the governor’s wife for her commitment, describing the outreach as a timely intervention that complements state efforts to provide quality healthcare for vulnerable groups.
Lawrentta Ogbedo, Director-General of the foundation, described the outreach as a demonstration of Oborevwori’s humanitarian vision. Ogbedo disclosed that the foundation has distributed four interactive boards, educational toys, flashcards, therapy balls, 69 wheelchairs and mobility devices, and over 270 bags of rice and other food items.
Prince Ogorugba, Executive Chairman of the Isoko North Local Government Council—speaking for himself and Warri Oyoke, Chairman of Isoko South—described the outreach as a historic intervention. He noted that the initiative complements Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda in promoting inclusive governance.
Beneficiaries and caregivers expressed gratitude, highlighting that the outreach has lifted significant physical and financial burdens from their shoulders.
