The military disclosed this in a statement on Saturday by the Acting Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Haruna M. Sani.
According to the statement, troops recorded significant operational successes, including the rescue of abducted children, the arrest of suspected terrorist collaborators and logistics suppliers, and the recovery of weapons and other operational materials.
In one of the operations, troops of Sector 2, conducting fighting and perimeter clearance patrols around the Amuda area, rescued three children identified as Ali Usman, 15, Umar Ibrahim Abubakar, 15, and Fatima Abubakar, 12.
The military said preliminary investigations revealed that the children escaped from terrorist enclaves in Saha and Chinene in the Mandara Mountains following sustained military offensives in the area.
“After profiling and documentation, the children were safely reunited with community leaders in Ngoshe,” the statement read.
The military further disclosed that troops of Sector 3 on June 12 rescued six civilians during a foiled kidnapping attempt along the Damasak-Gubio Main Supply Route after terrorists abandoned their captives while fleeing from pursuing troops near Kareto.
Operation Hadin Kai also reported the interception of suspected insurgent collaborators and logistics suppliers.
According to the statement, troops of the 68 Battalion in Mallam Fatori ambushed suspected ISWAP reconnaissance operatives and recovered an AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine containing 31 rounds of ammunition.
It added that troops operating at Check Point 61 intercepted 11 suspects travelling in two civilian vehicles under suspicious circumstances.
“Preliminary investigations linked the individuals to attempts at recovering vehicles belonging to known terrorist logistics collaborators previously sighted supporting insurgent activities around Ali Sheriffti,” the military said.
In another related operation, troops arrested a suspected terrorist logistics courier, Malahi Liman Muhammad, along the Mandaragirau-Sabon Gari axis.
Items recovered from the suspect included herbicides, blankets, salt, food supplies, mobile phones and other materials believed to be intended for terrorist support activities.
The statement also revealed that troops successfully repelled a major attack launched by heavily armed Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters against troops stationed at the COP Bridge location during the early hours of June 12.
“The terrorists, operating with four gun trucks and several motorcycles, launched simultaneous assaults from the Wurge, Manawaji and Kinuba axes. However, the attack was decisively repelled through the gallant resistance of troops, reinforced by timely artillery and mortar fire support,” the statement noted.
Following the failed attack, troops conducted exploitation operations and recovered three Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers, seven High Explosive Anti-Tank rounds and other unexploded ordnance abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
The military said evidence found along the withdrawal routes, including bloodstains and body marks, suggested the terrorists suffered significant casualties.
It, however, disclosed that one soldier sustained injuries from rocket-propelled grenade fragments and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Sani said the latest operational successes demonstrated the effectiveness of ongoing military offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and protecting civilians across the North-East.
“These latest successes further underscore the effectiveness of OPHK’s ongoing offensive operations and intelligence-driven campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, denying insurgents freedom of action, and protecting civilian populations,” he stated.
He added that the military remained committed to restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
“The Military High Command commends the courage, professionalism and commitment of the troops and reassures the public that OPHK remains firmly in control of the operational environment and resolute in its mission to achieve lasting peace, security and stability across the North-East,” Sani said.
