The examination, which commenced on April 20, and ended on April 30, 2026, had the results approved and released following the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE award committee meeting held on Thursday at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
Tunji Alausa, the minister of education, represented by Folake David, director of basic education at the Federal Ministry of Education, speaking at the 2026 BECE award committee meeting, said he was delighted with the conduct of the examination and the processes that led to the timely release of the results.
The meeting was attended by secondary school principals from across the country, alongside members of NECO’s management team.
Besides, the NECO award committee approved July 22 and 23, 2026, as the dates for the BECE re-sit examination in Mathematics and English Studies.
The council emphasised that the re-sit examination is specifically designed for candidates with conditional deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies, or both subjects.
Moreover, it highlighted that the exercise provides affected candidates with an opportunity to remedy their deficiencies and obtain the required certification for admission and placement into Senior Secondary School One (SSS I) without repeating a full academic session.
NECO reiterated its commitment to maintaining credible assessment standards and ensuring that eligible candidates have the opportunity to progress in their academic pursuits.
